Meet Zeus, a handsome 4-year-old Great Dane looking for a foster home where he can continue learning, decompress, and work on his impulse control.

Zeus is a sweet, affectionate boy who considers himself a giant lap dog. He is a true shadow who loves being with his people, soaking up attention, and learning new things. He is house trained, enjoys several walks each day, and currently lives successfully with another Great Dane.

Zeus does, however, have some things he needs help with. He becomes extremely excited when he sees other dogs, and his "puppy brain" can take over. He has low impulse control and may pull on leash when excited. His current family has been working to keep him exercised and appropriately stimulated, including walks and visits to lower-traffic dog parks.

Zeus previously lived in a foster home with five other dogs after being rescued from a hoarding situation, and he currently does well with his Great Dane housemate. He would benefit from a home with a confident handler who understands giant breeds and is willing to continue working on his manners, impulse control, and appropriate interactions with other dogs.

His ideal foster home would have a secure fenced yard, someone willing to provide regular exercise and structure, and the patience to help him learn. A canine companion may be a possibility, particularly with careful introductions and a dog who is comfortable with Zeus's enthusiastic play style.

Zeus is currently being treated with Apoquel for red, irritated paws. He is otherwise up to date on his routine veterinary care and is already neutered and gastropexied.

Zeus is being rehomed through a after an incident involving another dog resulted in an accidental injury to a neighbor during play. His family is looking for a safe placement where he can receive the training and structure they are currently unable to provide.

Zeus is not a bad dog. He is a big, affectionate dog with a big personality who needs help learning how to manage his excitement. With the right home, structure, and continued training, we believe he has the potential to thrive.
