Meet Zeno

Zeno is a young, sweet boy who urgently needs a foster home and rescue placement. He is currently at the Mineral Wells Texas Animal Shelter and can be euthanized at any time.

Zeno is extremely underweight, and the shelter has been unable to obtain an exact weight because he is frightened of the scale. His finder was unable to keep weight on him, raising concerns about a possible underlying medical issue. He will need a veterinary evaluation, appropriate diagnostic testing, and nutritional support to determine why he is struggling to maintain his weight.

Despite being understandably nervous in the shelter, Zeno has been wonderful with staff. He allows handling, does well with the people caring for him, and is described as being great on a leash. He also keeps his kennel clean and is reportedly dog friendly.

Zeno's heartworm status is currently unknown, but testing will be completed along with his core vaccinations.

Because of his current condition and emaciation, Zeno is rescue only and cannot be adopted directly from the shelter. He needs a foster who can provide a calm, safe environment while he receives the medical care and nutrition he needs to regain his strength.

Zeno may be nervous when he first arrives in a new environment, so his foster will need to be patient and allow him time to decompress and build confidence. Once he feels safe, we believe there is a wonderful young dog waiting to emerge.

Zeno needs a foster home immediately. He can be euthanized at any time, and he cannot afford to wait.
