Meet Ben

Ben is an abandoned Great Dane who has been surviving on the streets of Brownsville, Texas, with the help of a kind local woman who has been making sure he has food.

According to reports, Ben has been in the area for approximately three months. His previous owner reportedly moved and left him behind. Despite repeated efforts to locate an owner, no one has come forward to claim him.

Ben is extremely shy and understandably frightened. With other dogs in the area, he tends to hang back and keep his distance. After spending so long without the security of a home, he will need time, patience, and a safe environment to begin learning that people can be trusted.

The good news is that someone has been looking out for him. A local woman has continued feeding Ben and is willing to help with transportation to get him somewhere safe. Now he needs the next piece of the puzzle: a foster home.

Ben doesn't need someone expecting an instant, confident companion. He needs someone willing to give a scared dog the time and space necessary to decompress and come out of his shell. A calm, secure home and a patient foster who understands fearful dogs could give Ben the opportunity he has been missing for far too long.

After approximately three months of surviving without a home, Ben deserves more than food left outside. He deserves a safe place to sleep, regular meals, veterinary care, and the chance to discover what it feels like to belong to someone again.
