TEDDY
Location: Houston, TX
URGENT: EUTHANASIA CANDIDATE
Teddy is a 6-year-old Great Dane who desperately needs a foster home and a second chance. He is currently at BARC in Houston and is scheduled for euthanasia on August 26, with the shelter indicating that no extensions will be granted.
At approximately 60 pounds, Teddy is extremely thin and has clearly been through a difficult time. He has an old injury to his front leg that has resulted in significant muscle loss and makes it difficult for him to use the leg normally. Because he has been dragging the leg, he has also developed a sore on his paw.
Teddy will need a veterinary evaluation as soon as possible to determine the extent of the injury and whether the leg can be rehabilitated or if amputation may ultimately be the best option. He is also heartworm positive, but thankfully, heartworm disease is treatable.
Despite everything he is dealing with, BARC describes Teddy as "very friendly." That is an especially important piece of information about this sweet boy. He has every reason to be frightened and shut down, yet he is still showing people that he wants to connect.
Save Rocky is looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home willing to give Teddy a safe, comfortable place to recover while we determine exactly what medical care he needs.
We anticipate Teddy's initial medical care could cost approximately $1,500–$3,000, depending on what is determined about his leg. We are actively seeking sponsors to help cover his veterinary care.
Teddy has already been failed once. He should not lose his life simply because he needs medical care and a place to recover.
He needs someone willing to open their home, give him time to heal, and show him that his life can still have a very happy chapter ahead.
Teddy needs a foster before August 26.
If you can foster Teddy, foster-to-adopt, sponsor his medical care, or help network him, please reach out as soon as possible.
