URGENT: EUTHANASIA CANDIDATE

Bane is a handsome 4-year-old boy who came to BARC Houston as a stray. Although he is currently listed as a Cane Corso, his appearance and size suggest he may actually be a Great Dane or Great Dane mix.

Bane is currently at risk due to shelter capacity and needs immediate placement.

Once he is out of his kennel, Bane's personality really begins to shine. Shelter staff describe him as friendly and relaxed, and he has a wonderfully happy, wiggly tail when he gets the opportunity to run and play. He is also a good walker and does well on a loose leash both inside and outside the shelter.

Bane can be a little vocal when he is first settled into his kennel and may bark initially, but he settles down quickly when given something appropriate to chew, such as a chew toy or rawhide.

Bane will need slow, thoughtful introductions with other dogs. His temperament around cats is currently unknown, and additional testing may be needed.

Medically, Bane is heartworm negative and has received rabies, Bordetella, DA2PP, and deworming. His alteration status is currently unknown, and additional information has been requested.

Bane does have several medical concerns that will need continued monitoring. He has scrapes and scratches on his face and body that appear consistent with road rash, along with skin inflammation near his lower abdomen. He also has a mild limp that will need to be evaluated and monitored.

Despite being uncomfortable and overwhelmed in the shelter environment, Bane has shown staff that he is a friendly, affectionate dog who settles once he is given some space and something positive to focus on.

Bane needs immediate placement due to the shelter's current capacity. He would benefit from a foster or adopter who can provide a calm environment, continued medical care, slow introductions with other dogs, and the opportunity to decompress outside of the shelter.

This sweet, wiggly boy deserves the chance to leave the shelter and show everyone what a great dog he can be.
