Meet Tony – The Sweetest Chocolate Around
Tony is a handsome, five-year-old chocolate Great Dane who has spent most of his life surviving rather than truly living. Now, after being rescued from an animal cruelty and hoarding situation, this sweet boy desperately needs someone willing to show him what safety, stability, and kindness feel like.
Tony was one of several animals discovered living in heartbreaking conditions on a property associated with a puppy mill operation. Although he was not one of the owner's personal dogs, he was caught in the same devastating circumstances. At just 75–85 pounds, Tony is severely underweight for a Great Dane his size and needs proper nutrition, veterinary care, and time to regain his strength.
Despite everything he has endured, Tony has shown no signs of aggression, including food aggression, resource guarding, or barrier aggression. He has lived alongside dogs of all sizes, cats, horses, chickens, macaws, and other animals without reported issues. While he has been exposed to cats, his compatibility with them has not been formally evaluated.
A Gentle Soul Who Needs Patience
Tony's biggest challenge right now is his anxiety.
Having spent most of his life outdoors, Tony is unfamiliar with the comforts and routines of living inside a home. He is not currently house trained, although he does reasonably well in a crate. He will need a patient, understanding foster or adopter who can help him gradually adjust to a new environment without overwhelming him.
Tony is also extremely attached to a female dog from the same property. Although the two are being separated because the female does not wish to remain with him, Tony becomes very distressed when she is out of sight. He does eventually settle, but this separation anxiety is something his future caregiver will need to work through with compassion, consistency, and patience.
After years of instability, Tony needs the opportunity to build confidence and learn that he can feel safe on his own.

The Home Tony Needs
Tony isn't looking for perfection. He's looking for patience.
His ideal foster or adoptive home will be with someone experienced with large breeds and anxious dogs who understands that healing from neglect takes time. Because Tony has spent most of his life outdoors and is not yet comfortable with indoor living, he will need a safe, secure environment where he can gradually become accustomed to new routines at his own pace.
A calm, predictable setting with a compassionate caregiver would give Tony the best opportunity to decompress, gain weight, build confidence, and begin discovering a life beyond survival.
His anxiety and attachment to his former companion will require thoughtful management, but with time, consistency, and the right support, Tony deserves the chance to develop independence and feel secure.
Help Tony Find His Second Chance
For five years, Tony has known a world of uncertainty, neglect, and life outdoors. He has never had the opportunity to experience the security and stability that every dog deserves.
We want to change that.
If you can offer Tony a foster or forever home, please reach out to us.
Tony has already survived so much. Now he deserves the opportunity to do more than survive.
He deserves to finally live.
