Sweet Rose is very pregnant, and she is currently sitting in a shelter.
Rose arrived as a stray at Cameron County Animal Shelter in San Benito, Texas. Her shelter hold expires September 1, and we are working against a very short timeline to find her a safe place to go.
Rose doesn't simply need a foster home. She needs a maternity foster.
This sweet girl is very pregnant and could give birth soon. We do not want her to deliver her puppies in the stressful and unfamiliar environment of a shelter, without a quiet place to nest or someone there to care for her and her newborn babies.
We are looking for a foster who can open their home to Rose for the duration of her pregnancy and postpartum period. She will need a calm, comfortable space where she can safely give birth and raise her puppies until they are old enough to begin their next chapter.
We understand that taking in a pregnant dog is a significant commitment. But by opening your home to Rose, you could help save not only her life, but the lives of every puppy she is carrying.
Rose is approximately three years old, weighs around 50 pounds, and is reported to be friendly with other dogs. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown.
