Foster Needed for Maddie

After spending months surviving on the streets of Weslaco, Texas, Maddie is finally safe—but she urgently needs a foster home where she can begin the next chapter of her life.

Believed to be between one and two years old, Maddie wandered the same neighborhood for months, relying on the kindness of local residents who fed her and patiently earned her trust. Despite everything she's endured, she has remained incredibly gentle, affectionate, and eager to connect with people.

Maddie appears to have been someone's pet at one point. She is already comfortable wearing a collar, walks well on a leash, is house trained, crate trained, and understands the basics of living in a home. While she may be a little cautious when meeting new people, she settles in quickly once she realizes she's safe.

One of the things that makes Maddie so special is her kind and trusting nature. Even after experiencing hunger while living as a stray, she has shown no signs of resource guarding and happily allows people near her food. She also gets along well with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a canine companion in her foster or forever home.

Her finder shared:

"Dogs that we have pulled off the streets here are extra special. They have known people not to love them—so when they are finally loved and they know it, they become the best dogs ever."

Maddie is currently heartworm positive and has already begun treatment. She is up to date on her vaccinations and will be spayed once she is no longer in heat.

She urgently needs a foster home because her finder has intact male dogs and is already caring for another rescue dog with significant medical needs. Without a foster, Maddie has nowhere to go.
