DUTCH *COURTESY LISTING

Dutch has been waiting far too long for someone to see the wonderful dog behind his story.
This handsome senior Great Dane has spent more than six months in the shelter, patiently hoping that the right person will come along. While he is safe at Special Pals, shelter life is not where Dutch is meant to be. The constant activity, noise, and stress are difficult for him, and what he truly needs is a quiet, understanding home where he can finally relax and feel secure.
Dutch is approximately seven years old or older and is looking for a very specific home where he can continue to thrive. He would do best in an adult-only household as the only pet. Because of his past experiences, he responds best to positive reinforcement and a patient adopter who is willing to earn his trust at his own pace.
Once Dutch feels safe, he reveals the incredibly loving dog he's always been. He seeks comfort by leaning gently against his person, quietly asks for affection, and forms deep, loyal bonds with those he trusts. His soft, gentle nature shines through when given the chance.
Dutch is already house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and knows several basic commands, including sit, stay, and shake. He also has a soft spot for plush toys and enjoys carrying them around.
Dutch doesn't need a perfect home—he simply needs the right one. Someone willing to look beyond his past and give him the stability, patience, and love he's been waiting for.
Please Note: This is a courtesy listing. Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab is not able to intake Dutch due to the number of behavioral dogs currently in our care. Dutch remains in the care of Special Pals Shelter, and all adoption inquiries should be directed to their team.
If you believe you could be the person Dutch has been waiting for, please contact Special Pals Shelter at info@specialpals.org to learn more about adopting him.
