Meet Grizelda

If you're looking for a gentle soul with a heart full of love, Grizelda may be your perfect match.

Grizelda is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart. She can be a little shy when meeting new people or experiencing unfamiliar situations, but once she feels safe, her sweet and affectionate personality shines. She's still learning what it means to be a cherished family pet, and every day she grows a little more confident.

This lovely girl has a moderate energy level and is happiest living the simple life. She enjoys a leisurely walk, a little time exploring the backyard, and then she's more than ready to curl up for a long nap. She isn't demanding or overly needy—she simply wants to be near her people, soaking up love and companionship.

One of Grizelda's cutest habits is watching everything you do. She's always paying attention, learning your routine, and trying to figure out what's coming next. When she sees you putting on your shoes, she already knows you're heading out and will quietly trot over to her kennel all on her own. It's impossible not to smile at how observant she is.

When she's entertaining herself, Grizelda can often be found happily tossing her favorite stuffed avocado around the yard before carrying it back to her kennel for a cuddle. (Her beloved avocado will be coming with her to her forever home!)

Grizelda is fully house-trained, does well in her crate, and responds beautifully to gentle praise and verbal correction. She's eager to please and enjoys having structure and routine. She's still working on her leash manners—she sometimes zigzags on walks and may become startled by unexpected loud noises, so she'll do best with someone who can confidently guide and reassure her.

While getting into the car can still be a little intimidating, she's already shown how quickly she can learn. After needing help into the car for her first vet visit, she happily climbed in by herself for the ride home. With patience and positive experiences, she's likely to continue making great progress.

Grizelda absolutely enjoys the company of other dogs. She loves greeting canine friends with enthusiastic tail wags and would likely thrive with another calm, friendly large dog to help build her confidence. That said, she's also independent enough that she could be perfectly happy as an only dog.

She is currently living in a foster home with a cat, and while introductions have improved over time, there is still some uncertainty about how she'd do long-term with feline friends. Because of this, a cat-free home or one with experienced introductions would be the safest choice.

Loud, unexpected noises can still make Grizelda nervous, and she's looking for a family willing to continue helping her discover that the world isn't such a scary place. She doesn't have any significant behavioral concerns, although she may occasionally "borrow" a shoe—only to leave it covered in slobbery kisses rather than chew it up!

Medically, Grizelda has a small nodule on one of her feet that has been examined by a veterinarian. It isn't currently causing concern and is simply being monitored.

Grizelda's ideal home is one where she's truly part of the family. She wants to spend her days lounging on a comfy dog bed, following her people from room to room, joining in on the occasional adventure, and receiving plenty of pets along the way. A calm household with a predictable routine, patient guidance, and lots of love will help her continue blossoming into the wonderful companion she's meant to be.

She's still learning basic commands and hasn't quite figured out that "Grizelda" is her name yet—which means her future family has the opportunity to give her not only a fresh start, but even a brand-new name if they choose.

More than anything, Grizelda is simply looking for someone to love her. And once you meet her, it's hard not to love her right back.
