BO
Location: Chuck Silcox Animal Care & Adoption Center, Fort Worth, Texas
Meet Bo.
Bo is an approximately 8-year-old male Great Dane currently waiting at the shelter for someone willing to give him a chance. Weighing around 125 pounds, this handsome senior is hoping for a safe place to land where he can decompress and show his true personality outside of the shelter environment.
Bo is:
• Microchipped
• Neutered
• Vaccinated (DAPPv and Rabies)
• A smart boy who knows sit, stay, and come
Medically, Bo is heartworm positive and currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection (URI) at the shelter.
Here's what we know about Bo so far. We want to be transparent while also setting him up for success:
• Friendly with people, including children
• Intelligent and responsive to commands
• Best suited as the only pet in the home at this time
Shelter notes indicate that Bo has shown reactivity toward cats and some dogs, including barking, growling, lunging, and attempts to bite. There are also notes regarding food guarding and prior incidents involving other animals. Because of this, Bo is looking for an experienced, dog-savvy foster or adopter who understands management, structure, and the importance of a slow decompression period.
As we always say, shelter behavior does not tell the whole story. A stressful environment can bring out behaviors that may never appear in a home setting, and we remain hopeful that with patience, boundaries, and understanding, Bo can settle in and thrive.
What Bo needs most right now is someone willing to see the dog behind the kennel door. Senior dogs deserve second chances
