LOKI

Meet Loki
Loki is a gentle giant with a heart as big as his 100-pound frame. After losing his home due to his owner's homelessness, he was surrendered to a humane association in Tennessee and later adopted in Florida. Unfortunately, the placement wasn't the right fit, as the resident dog repeatedly mounted and antagonized him, and Loki was never given the chance to properly settle in. Now safe with an experienced foster, this handsome boy is ready to find the forever family he truly deserves.
Despite his size, Loki is remarkably aware of himself. He carefully navigates doorways, doesn't counter surf, and carries himself with surprising grace. He's a laid-back companion who enjoys the simple things in life—a short walk, a game of fetch, squeaky toys, and then returning to his favorite spot on the couch. While he enjoys an occasional burst of zoomies with canine friends, Loki is not a high-energy dog and is happiest spending quality time with his people.
Loki currently lives in a structured foster home alongside three female dogs and regularly encounters other dogs through his foster's board-and-train program. He enjoys canine companionship and does best with female dogs or neutered males. Although he can be vocal and excited when meeting new dogs, he responds well to redirection and quickly settles. He does not appreciate being mounted and will give appropriate corrections if another dog ignores his boundaries. Calm introductions help him feel comfortable, but once acquainted, he either warms up quickly or peacefully goes about his business.
This sweet boy has also met cats and chickens and has shown little interest in either. He is wonderful with adults and is gentle and indifferent around children ages 8 to 12, happily accepting affection without demanding attention.
Loki is house trained, rides beautifully in the car, and walks well on leash. He is comfortable in a kennel when he can see his person and receives reassurance, though he would benefit from continued crate training. Like many loyal dogs, he prefers not to be separated from his humans and may vocalize briefly when left alone, but settles within minutes. He can become anxious if accidentally shut in a room and appreciates knowing where his people are.
His only known medical issue is a mild seasonal grass allergy, which is easily managed with Benadryl as needed. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations.
Loki has already experienced more change than any dog should, but through it all, he has remained affectionate, social, and eager to love. He is looking for a family that will give him the stability, patience, and companionship he deserves. In return, they'll gain a loyal best friend and the ultimate couch companion.
