Meet Freya Rose!
Meet Freya Rose, affectionately known as Frey! This beautiful Great Dane is a gentle giant with an enormous heart, a playful personality, and absolutely no understanding of personal space. Weighing over 100 pounds, Freya is convinced she's a lap dog and would happily spend every moment snuggled up beside her favorite humans.
Unfortunately, Freya's current placement is no longer the right fit. Although she has previously lived successfully with both male and female dogs, including smaller breeds, she is experiencing compatibility issues with the male Cane Corso in her current home. We're hoping to find her a loving, stable environment where she can truly thrive.
Personality & Temperament
Freya is an incredibly affectionate, people-oriented girl who thrives on companionship. She's the definition of a Velcro dog, happiest when she's close to her humans, whether that means joining them for a walk, relaxing on the couch, or curling up in bed.
She has a moderate energy level and enjoys a healthy balance of activity and relaxation. Freya loves walks, baths, cuddles, and simply being included in everyday family life. She's eager to please, generally well-mannered, and full of personality.
Freya has previously done well with children, dogs of various sizes, and cats. While she may occasionally chase a cat out of curiosity, she has not demonstrated aggressive intentions toward them. Given her current difficulties with another dog, introductions to any resident pets should be handled carefully to ensure compatibility.
Training & Home Life
Freya is both house-trained and crate-trained. While she would much rather spend her time with her people, she does well in a crate, particularly during mealtimes.
She's highly food-motivated and has a healthy appetite, sometimes a little too healthy! Freya has been known to investigate countertops and help herself to unattended food, so her future family should be prepared to manage this mischievous habit.
Freya doesn't particularly enjoy being left alone and would thrive in a home where someone is present for much of the day. She can also become nervous during car rides and feels most secure when she's close to someone she trusts.
Ideal Home
Freya's perfect home would offer patience, consistency, companionship, and plenty of affection. Because of her size and occasional lack of body awareness, a household with older children would be preferable. She means well, but sometimes forgets just how much dog there is to love!
She has a sensitive stomach associated with her history of abuse and will need a family willing to be mindful of her dietary needs.
Freya could potentially live with compatible pets following careful introductions, but finding the right match will be important. Above all, she needs a family that understands her desire for closeness and can provide the reassurance and stability she deserves.
One of Freya's most endearing features is her adorable little nub tail. She may not have a traditional Great Dane tail, but her signature happy wiggle makes it perfectly clear when she's excited!
Freya's Second Chance
Freya Rose has endured more hardship than any dog should have to experience. Despite her history of abuse, she remains a loving, affectionate, and trusting companion who wants nothing more than to be part of a family.
She deserves a home where she feels safe, cherished, and included. With the right people by her side, Freya has so much love and happiness to offer.
Freya Rose is currently seeking a foster home, foster-to-adopt placement, or permanent adopter. If you're looking for a devoted companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Freya might be the perfect addition to your family.
