URGENT: SCOOBY DOO NEEDS A FOSTER BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE

Scooby Doo needs us.

And right now, he needs someone to step forward for him.

Scooby has been placed on the Urgent Placement – Behavior list and is up for review tomorrow, meaning euthanasia is a very real possibility if placement cannot be found.

We know Scooby is scared. We know he has a reported history of aggression toward other dogs. And we know that the shelter environment is making things even harder for him.

In the shelter, Scooby has displayed stiff body language, a low or tucked tail, leash avoidance, and hesitation while walking. These are signs of fear and discomfort.

But here's what we also know:

He has not attempted to bite his handlers.

Once outside his kennel, Scooby allows people to pet him. He needs someone who can look past the fear and give him the opportunity to decompress in a calm, structured environment.

Scooby was surrendered with reports of growling, barking, lunging, and attempted biting toward other dogs. Because of this, Scooby needs to be the only pet in the home.

He doesn't need a dog park.
He doesn't need dog friends.
He doesn't need to be pushed into situations that scare him.

He needs one person willing to help him.

Someone experienced. Someone patient. Someone who understands that fear can look very different in a shelter than it does in a home.

Scooby is heartworm negative and has received his rabies vaccine and DAPPV. He is currently unaltered.

We are looking for an experienced foster or foster-to-adopt home who can provide Scooby with safety, structure, patience, and appropriate management.

We cannot promise exactly who Scooby will become once he is out of the shelter.

But we can promise that he deserves the chance to find out.

His review is TOMORROW.
